Ingredients

  • 1 lb Crawfish tails Fresh or frozen crawfish tails work well
  • 1 loaf French bread Or a similar type of bread
  • 8 oz Cream cheese Softened
  • 2 cups Shredded cheddar cheese For a gooey texture
  • 3-4 Green onions Chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning Adjust to taste
  • 1 tbsp Hot sauce Optional, for added spice
  • 2 tbsp Butter For sautéing
  • To taste Salt and pepper Season to your preference

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Prepare the filling: In a mixing bowl, combine crawfish tails, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped green onions, minced garlic, Cajun seasoning, and hot sauce (if using). Mix well until the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Prepare the bread: Slice the French bread loaf in half lengthwise. Gently hollow out the center of each half, leaving about 1/2 inch of bread on the sides.
  • Fill the bread: Spoon the crawfish mixture into the hollowed-out halves, spreading it evenly.
  • Bake: Place the filled bread halves on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • Serve: Let the crawfish bread cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

for the best flavor, use fresh or high-quality frozen crawfish. If you'd like a spicier kick, add extra Cajun seasoning or hot sauce. The bread should be sliced and hollowed out gently to prevent it from becoming soggy. Feel free to experiment with different types of cheese or add vegetables like sautéed bell peppers for a unique twist.
