In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and baking soda.
In a large bowl, cream the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until smooth.
Add the egg and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until combined.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
Fold in the semisweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them a couple of inches apart.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
