In a small mixing bowl, cream together 1 1/2 tablespoons softened butter, 1 tablespoon granulated sugar, and 1 tablespoon light brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1/8 teaspoon salt to the mixture. Mix well.
Gradually mix in 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour until just combined.
Fold in 2 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Scoop the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown and the center is slightly underbaked.
Allow the cookie to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a chewier cookie, slightly underbake the cookie so that it stays soft in the middle. You can also experiment with different types of chocolate chips or add nuts or dried fruit for a unique twist on the classic recipe.
